How to Clear a Phobia using FasterEFT

What is a Phobia?

A phobia is an irrational fear – a fear that is out of proportion or unreasonable in relation to physical threat. There are many different phobias from spiders and cockroaches to heights and confined spaces. These are some of the more common phobias, but there are people who have a very real fear of items as unthreatening as bananas and the color yellow!

What Causes Phobias

Phobias are the result of a connection in the brain that relates the feared object to the body’s fight, freeze or flight response. The fact that there is no logical reason for the fear has no effect on the fear itself since the state of fear is biological rather than through logic or reasoning. The brain has been programmed to signal the organs of the body to trigger the emergency stress response. This means that the body goes into exactly the same state it would if the person was in danger of being attacked by a wild animal.

There are many different possibilities as to the exact circumstances that resulted in the phobia; and many people with phobias are unaware of the original cause. It could be as simple as a baby in a day-dreaming state eating or staring at a banana – and a door slams. The response of the body at that moment could cause the brain to connect the fight, freeze or flight state with the object the baby was focused on at the time. This could result in the brain continuing to trigger the fight or flight response whenever that person sees a banana.

With more common phobias, the connection can be caused by stories, dreams, frightening experiences, practical jokes, threats and a wide range of other possibilities. Fortunately, you do not need to know the original cause in order to cure the phobia. Using FasterEFT you will be able to allow your subconscious to do the work for you.

The Process for Clearing Phobias using FasterEFT

Step One

Go back to your earliest memory of encountering the thing you fear. Approximately how old were you? What happened? Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and go back to that moment. See what you saw, hear what you heard, feel what you felt. Notice how you feel. Notice where in your body you feel the fear and how strong it is. (Isn’t it interesting that your fear is real even though the thing you fear is only in your mind right now).

Step Two

Using two fingers, gently tap the following meridian points while focusing on the feeling of your fingers on your skin and saying the phrases.

– Between your eyebrows – I release and let this go now

– Beside your eye – It’s okay to let it go now

– Under your eye – I don’t need it anymore, and it’s safe to let it go now

– Just below your collarbone – That’s right, just let it all go; and I’m safe as I’m letting it go now

Step Three

Grab your wrist, take a deep breath, blow it out, and say “Peace”. Go to a peaceful memory and enjoy the feeling of that for a moment.

Step Four

Now, think about the thing you’re frightened of; and notice what’s different. Notice if the fear has changed in any way. Notice any sensations in your body. Just notice what’s still there.

Step Five

Go back and repeat Steps Two through Four until the fear has completely gone.

The Key to Success

Do not stop until there is no trace of the fear at all. Test yourself by thinking about the thing you fear in more detail. Imagine holding it in your hands if appropriate, or doing whatever it is you fear, being in the place you fear. And at the first sign of fear, repeat Steps Two through Four each time you feel any fear at all. This is how you will clean it up completely.

Think of it like weeding a garden – if you leave any of it behind it will grow back. So you need to make sure that you keep tapping until there is no trace of fear at all, no matter how much you try to make it come back by thinking about the thing you used to fear.
