“Problems with My Peaceful Memory” – FasterEFT Techniques

At the end of the FasterEFT technique, you grab your wrist, take a deep breath, blow it out, say “Peace” and then go to a peaceful memory. This is an important part of the process since it changes the chemical state of your body and brain, and is a key part of changing the connection between the subject and the emotional reaction. It is worth making sure that you are choosing a memory or thought that will give you the strongest response.

Does it Need to be True?

No. The brain and body do not know the difference between reality and imagination. And they will respond to a thought as if it were reality. In other words, if you have never been to a tropical beach, but the idea of lying in a hammock tied between two palm trees makes you feel peaceful and happy, then that’s a great option. See the trees above you, listen to the waves, feel the sunshine and light breeze, smell the salty air. As you do this, you will feel the peace in your body as your brain signals your organs to respond to that scene.

What if it Changes?

Some people find that their peaceful memory changes as they continue to go through the FasterEFT process. If it is changing for good – in other words, becoming more enjoyable – great. However, if you find it is changing in a negative way – if it starts to feel contaminated by the problem you are working on, for example – it’s time to switch to another peaceful memory. You could imagine hugging a baby or a pet, or just soaking in the tub. Whatever feels peaceful, relaxing and good.

Must My Peaceful Memory be Related to the Problem I’m Tapping on?

Not at all. In fact, it is usually better if the peaceful memory you choose has nothing to do with the problem you’re addressing. It is easier to switch between the feeling of the problem and the good feeling of the peaceful memory if they are not connected.
